absentee voting

When you cannot make it to the polls on election day (see reasons below), you need to vote by absentee if you want to vote. Help someone in a big way by helping them request an absentee ballot today. Download the application here. Once you have completed the application, mail to your county board of elections (addresses below) no later than the seventh day (October 30) before the election (November 6) or, if delivered in person, no later than the day before the election. In addition to the county boards of election, you can always contact us for help.

Reasons to Request an Absentee Ballot

  • absence from county or New York City on election day

  • temporary illness or physical disability

  • permanent illness or physical disability

  • duties related to primary care of one or more individuals who are ill or physically disabled

  • resident or patient of a Veterans Health Administration Hospital

  • detention in jail/prison, awaiting trial, awaiting action by a grand jury, or in prison for a conviction of a crime or offense which was not a felony
